MANILA, Philippines - True to the promise of bringing forth a dynamic approach to the Philippines’ premier design and lifestyle trade show, Manila FAME is firming up its initiatives in capturing the international market this year. The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry is leading the efforts in intensifying the participations in international events.

This year, the country will raise its banner in some of the world’s leading lifestyle trade fairs before ultimately coming home to a stronger, more comprehensive Manila FAME experience on 15 - 17 October.

Manila FAME is expected to be a bigger show that will feature more products from diverse sectors such as furniture, home décor and fashion as it transitions into an annual event happening every October. This will give exhibitors ample time to create and design new ideas that will excite the global market.

“We are bringing together Filipino design luminaries, artisans, manufacturers and exporters as part of Manila FAME’s new beginning. The team is committed in continuously innovating and updating our brand to remain relevant and be at par with the world.” said Pauline Suaco-Juan, CITEM Executive Director.

(1) First stop – Ambiente in Messe Frankfurt, Germany

Twenty-four experienced and up-and-coming Manila FAME exhibitors will represent the country in Ambiente on 7 - 11 February. Known as the world’s most important consumer goods trade fair, Ambiente features a diverse range of buyers and suppliers from various markets including lifestyle, gifts, HORECA, (Hotel, Restaurant and Café), contracts business and ethical style, that promise profitable contacts and amazing opportunities for 2020.

Filipino craftsmanship will be highlighted through this year’s theme, “Hands that Work.” Tarlac, in addition, will be introduced as the very first Partner Artisan Community as they aim to present their unique strengths and specialties to the world.

(2) Fuorisalone at Milan Design Week, Milan, Italy

The Philippine participation in Fuorisalone 2020 will bring the country’s design to the fore through a highly curated installation. This will serve as a window into the country’s material culture and craftsmanship at the world’s most important design event. Fuorisalone is slated on 21 - 26 April 2020.

(3) South by Southwest in Texas, USA

South by Southwest (SXSW), slated on 13 - 22 March 2020 is a world-renowned annual experiential showcase and festival, featuring the latest innovations and ideas from around the globe.

This year, CITEM will be bringing for the first time, Philippine creative businesses, forward-thinking startups and established industry movers from the country’s technology, interactive, film/TV and music industries to the SXSW trade show platform.

(4) Maison & Objet in Paris, France

The Philippines is preparing for a highly curated participation in Maison & Objet as the event is a strategic business touchpoint for world-class design and lifestyle products happening during the Paris Design Week. It is open to design-oriented Philippine home and furniture manufacturers (including premium textiles) and design companies that cater to the mid to high-end markets. Maison & Objet is slated on 04 - 08 September 2020.

(5) Interior Lifestyle China in Shanghai, China

Participated predominantly by foreign brands, this trade show is an effective platform for international brands to penetrate or intensify their businesses in China, the world’s fastest growing economy.

Interior Lifestyle China is the foremost and trendsetting international event for China’s mid-to high-end consumer goods market. Filipino manufacturers offering children’s furniture, green home décor, outdoor furniture and accessories, and luxury lifestyle products are encouraged to join. The event is set on 10 - 12 September 2020.

(6) Premiere Classe in Paris, France

Located in Jardin des Tuileries, Premiere Classe is a must-attend platform for designers in the accessories industry. Known for its high-quality selection, the show features upcoming trends from established and young designers who are helping shape the future of fashion.

Get a chance to meet independent retailers, trendsetters, communication agencies, stylists and commercial agents through this event scheduled on 02 – 05 October. Premiere Classe is open to top Filipino fashion brands with a proven track record of design excellence and strong brand identity.

MANILA, Philippines; December 2019 – The country’s creative edge in producing distinctly designed handcrafted products takes centerstage once again as Philippine manufacturers join Ambiente 2020 this coming February 7-11, 2020, at Messe Frankfurt, Germany.

Under the LifestylePhilippines brand, 24-strong furniture and home décor manufacturers that represent some of the artisan regions in the country will highlight handcrafted and consciously-made products that speak of story and purpose.

The participation’s key messaging for this year is “Hands That Work.” This direction presents a celebration of the innate capabilities of Filipinos to create the most design-driven yet functional pieces from natural and sustainable raw supplies and even from old and considered as waste materials. The participation will highlight the artistic and capable hands of local manufacturers that harnessed different material manipulation techniques to create exquisite products globally used and appreciated today.

“We are a country of artisans. Our ancestors, up to our modern lineage, are weavers, sculptors and artists who produce objects that excite the global market. Therefore, we are strongly rallying behind our exporters and helping them promote in the international arena through trade shows like Ambiente,” said Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions Executive Director (CITEM) Pauline Suaco-Juan.

As the export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), CITEM spearheaded LifestylePhilippines or the collective branding of creative enterprises that represent the best of the Philippines’ home and fashion sectors.

Ambiente is a trade fair recognized as a meeting point for buyers and suppliers from all over the world, and the participation is expected to enable the country to vie for a slice of the design and lifestyle market in Europe. Germany is the biggest trading partner of the Philippines in the European Union and its 11th global trading partner, with a total trade volume of $7.4 billion in 2018.

MANILA, Philippines; January 2020 – The Philippine furniture and home décor sector is set to showcase their design and material manipulation skills in Ambiente 2020 to be held at Messe Frankfurt, Germany on 7-11 February 2020.

Out of the 24 participating companies, eight are homegrown manufacturers from Tarlac who aim to present their diverse strengths and specialties to the world. The province will be introduced as the very first Partner Artisan Community in the history of the Philippine delegation in Ambiente led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center– Berlin.

“We wish for Tarlac to be known not just as an agricultural province of the Philippines, we also want to highlight our design capabilities that are at par with global standards,” said Tarlac Governor Susan Yap.

“The best way to achieve this goal is to harness the special skills of the micro- small- and medium- enterprises in our province. We saw their potential through the creative products they make that is why we made it a part of our initiatives to push them even further. Assisting them in joining events like Ambiente will put us in the global marketplace,” Yap further shared.

The Tarlac-based companies going to Ambiente are Pumice, Red Slab, Oricon, Northshine, Betis Crafts, Pascasio Pottery, Wood Inspirations and Southeast Metro Arts.

“We are proud to be joined by Tarlac, one of the emerging centers of craftsmanship and design here in the Philippines. Their products are worthy to be showcased in an international event,” said Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions Executive Director (CITEM) Pauline Suaco-Juan.

The participation is led by DTI-CITEM through the LifestylePhilippines banner, the industry branding initiative of CITEM focused on bringing the product design sector towards greater global recognition by participating in overseas trade fairs.

“Hands That Work,” the main theme of the 2020 Philippine participation in Ambiente is conceptualized to highlight Filipino craftsmanship. The theme is also centered on social sustainability and how a strong exports industry can help generate jobs and uplift lives among its local community.

Under the LifestylePhilippines brand, a total of 24 manufacturers from the furniture and home décor sector will be flying to Germany to present the country’s competence in the design and lifestyle landscape. Celestial Arts, Marketex Handmade Craft Corp., Arte Cebuana, Arden Classic, More than a Chair, South Sea Veneer, Artisan Craftmill, TADECO, Klassy Collections, Finali, Chanalli, Natures Legacy, Tuy Arts & Designs, Corzo Crafts of Tamuco, Starcrest Asia Corp. and JM Handicrafts will be joined by the Tarlac artisan community.

“We are bringing a vibrant mix of old and new exhibitors to Ambiente. Together, they embody expertise in the export business and out-of-the-box ideas that will surely captivate the discerning taste of the international market,” Suaco-Juan added.

Ambiente is a trade fair recognized as a meeting point for buyers and suppliers from all over the world. The event magnets over 136,000 buyers from 167 countries attracting decision-makers and international trade buyers.
