Launched last October 2017, CREATE Philippines is the Philippine government’s trade platform for continued learning, knowledge exchange, and business and network creation for the local creative industries. It aims to make the Philippines an active voice in the global discourse on the creative economy and a top-of-mind destination in the Asia-Pacific for creative content and services. CREATE Philippines features the following sectors: Advertising Content and Production, Communication Design, Music and Performing Arts, Film & Animation, Digital Games & Apps, among others.
This year, the 2nd edition of CREATE Philippines will focus on COMMUNICATION DESIGN – a multidisciplinary practice that shapes ideas and information into clear and better messaging delivered through various media.
In partnership with the Communication Design Association of the Philippines (CDAP, www.cdap.com.ph), CREATE Philippines 2018 will feature Design Masterclass sessions, portfolio exhibitions, and networking events for industry institutions, agencies, freelancers, emerging talent, and Communication Design students.

Chris Do
Chris Do is the founder and CEO of brand strategy design consultancy, Blind.
Founded in 1995, Blind is a pioneer of Motion Design.
Today, Blind continues in the tradition of excellence by bringing a world class team of strategists, designers, film makers, writers and animators to create truly memorable video content.
Blind's work has garnered 2 Emmys, 3 Clios, multiple Gold/Silver BDA awards, MTV VMA, D&AD pencil, Telly, Addy Gold, Effie, ADC and One Show awards along with being featured in national and international festivals and publications such as Communication Arts, I.D., LA Weekly, Creatie, New York Film Festival, Type Director's Club, Stash, How and Print.
Dan Matutina
Dan Matutina is a graphic designer and illustrator.
He is a founding partner at Plus63 Design Co. and the Hydra Design Group. In 2013, he received the Art Director’s Club Young Guns Award. Dan’s works have appeared in print, digital and animation.
He has worked on projects for Apple, Google, Microsoft, Pinterest, Airbnb, Samsung, WIRED, Fast Co., Wallpaper*, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, Nike and Uniqlo to name a few. He has lectured at the University of the Philippines - College of Fine Arts. He is also currently the Vice President of the Communication Design Association of the Philippines (CDAP).
AJ Dimarucot
AJ Dimarucot is a graphic designer, entrepreneur and restaurateur.
As a designer, he is known for his iconic work on t-shirts, having designed for the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Michael Jackson. He is known in the crowd-sourced t-shirt design circles for having his art printed several times over at Threadless.com and Designbyhumans.com--where he won the US$10,000 t-shirt design contest in 2008. His roster of clients includes Nike, Jordan Brand, Adidas, and Uniqlo.
From the United States to Japan to his hometown of Manila, his t-shirts are worn all over the world.
In his past life, AJ was an Art Director for Ogilvy & Mather, largely responsible for starting the digital department, which went on to win numerous awards even after he left. He has been a judge in the local design shows like The Philippine Web Awards, Philippine Graphic Design Awards, The Kidlat Awards, and the Adobo Design Awards. He has been invited to speak at the Graphika Manila in 2008 and now regularly appears in colleges and universities to discuss his work.
AJ is also a design entrepreneur who owns the hip baby clothing line googoo&gaga, a brand he started with his wife. He has added 'frustrated chef' into his many titles and currently co-owns the hit Filipino-Mexican restaurant MADECA. Most of his time is spent at home with his wife Audrey and his three wonderful kids.
Jowee Alviar
Jowee Alviar founded TeamManila in 2001, where he has expanded to a team of 50 that continuously builds an impressive portfolio of award-winning works in graphic design and branding.
Driven to push the design envelope further, TeamManila is always on the lookout for collaborations with various creative entities on diverse design projects.
Aside from organizing the annual Manila Design Week and regular participation on design talks, TeamManila's notable accomplishments range from the David Bowie International Outside Art competition in Paris to various publication features inside and outside the country.
Mark Joseph Deutsch
Mark and his studio partner Johanna co-founded Happy Garaje - a small art and design studio based in Cebu, Philippines.
Their creative output can be seen in graphic design work, galleries, film, and picture books. They have received the Gold award from the Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles, exhibited at Tokyo Designers’ Week, and have been included in the advertising index Luerzer’s Archive list of 200 Best Illustrators for the years 2009 through 2012.
They have also been featured in notable design publications such as Communication Arts, Semi-Permanent Australia, BluPrint magazine, among others. Some of the clients that they have collaborated with include Disney Asia, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, 500 Startups, The Four Seasons, Geeks on a Beach and The Abaca Group.
Mark also teaches Master of Arts in Applied Art and Design Program at the University of the Philippines Cebu and Shu Te University Taiwan. He likes making things and spending time with his family.
